58th Annual Meeting – October 22, 2009
Rain didn’t dampen the spirits at Sparc’s 58th Annual Meeting that was held at Secret Recipes on Thursday, October 22. Over 200 Sparc employees, supporters, board members and individuals supported by Sparc braved the wet weather and packed the reception hall to enjoy a nice evening out. The dinner allowed Sparc the opportunity to look back over a trying but successful year, look forward to the road ahead and give special thanks to those who went above and beyond the call of duty.
The dinner was highlighted by a speech from Keith C. Schroeder. He spoke about how honesty, integrity and a good work ethic will take you wherever you want to go in life.
A touching moment came when Carol Watts accepted the Adele Karlson Lifetime Achievement Award on behalf of her husband Bowen “Skip” Watts.
Sparc Board President Karen Finney announced that Grant Franklin, Gerald Goldblatt, Ron Ladley, Michelle Lee and Dr. Earl Loschen had all been elected to the board of directors.

Starry Night – September 12, 2009
Sparc’s annual Starry Night was a great success. The event was held on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at the Crowne Plaza.
Entertainment from several individuals supported by Sparc, including a Political Satirist, a Poet, two Vocalists and a couple of Ballroom/Hip Hop Dancers, were highlights of the evening. In addition, dancers from the Tracy Sims Dance Studio performed and entertained everyone.
Guests were invited to have formal pictures taken to remember the event. Many people took advantage of this great opportunity to create a keepsake of their friends and family.
Our emcees for the evening were Julie Staley and Jerry Lambert, who guided us through our evening, including our Silent Auction, “Diamonds in Ice”, entertainment and dinner. Our thanks go out to both of them for a wonderful job!
The auction room was filled with many wonderful items on which to bid. Our many thanks go out to everyone who attended, the sponsors who contributed, the persons and businesses that donated auction items and to our Major Sponsors, Illinois National Bank and the Crowne Plaza.
