Sparc has teamed up with Bunn to help with their battery recycling program. Every battery that Bunn ships to its recycling center needs to be packaged in the proper way.
This is where Sparc comes in. Individuals supported by Sparc at the Developmental Training Center place tape on the metal areas of the batteries and then bundle them according to size.
“The Battery Recycling Project is a very powerful initiative that will impact not only the lives of the individuals that Sparc supports, through the addition of meaningful and paid work, but also the community in which those individuals and Sparc are a part of,” David Ziebler at Sparc’s Developmental Training Center, says.
Recycling boxes have been left in businesses around the community to give folks a place to throw away their old batteries. Once the box is filled, Sparc will come by and pick up the box.
“Bunn and Sparc, plus the Green Business Network of Springfield have made a strong, lasting commitment to not only undertake this project, but to carry it out until the day that the very last battery manufactured and brought into this community, is recycled and kept out of our local landfill,” Ziebler says.
