Success Catering serving up a tasty lunch

It’s a busy kitchen on days Success Catering has a lunch to prepare. On this day, Steve was slicing tomatoes for sandwiches and Joseph was organizing the ingredients for chili while Sparc staff members were guiding them along.

Steve and Joseph are both individuals supported by Sparc who gain valuable work experience preparing meals for Success Catering, which reopened a few months ago after reorganizing and implementing a new business strategy.

“We are still moving in the same direction,” David Ziebler, supported employment manager, says. “We are getting more orders in, fine tuning our recipes, and changing the menu around- it’s a living document.”

Businesses and organizations within the Springfield community can take advantage of a full lunch menu at an attractive price, all-the-while providing work training and experience to individuals supported by Sparc.

Success Catering is centered on providing options for business lunches and lunch time meetings. They specialize in soups, sandwiches, salads, delectable sides and party trays of both meat and cheese.

“We are a business that is not only geared towards making fresh lunchtime options for community organizations and businesses, but we are a business that is also focused on providing work training and work experience for the individuals supported by Sparc,” Ziebler says.

Given the state of the economy, Sparc has found it necessary to look at innovative ways to create jobs and job training opportunities for individuals.

With the creation of Success Catering that void is filled. This endeavor allows Sparc the opportunity to not only provide a service, but also provide the organization with a way to create the much needed income that will keep programs such as this in operation.
