~~~~PIONEER SHOE PROGRAM~~~~
On December 5th, 2011, sixteen Sparc Individuals were measured and fitted with a new pair of shoes!! These shoes were donated to folks in need all over central Illinois. The wonderful organization that makes this happen goes by the name of TelCom Pioneer Shoe Program.  It is a group of phone company employees, current and retired who collect money all through the year through donations and fundraisers. This program has been in existence for over 50 years. It all began when a gentleman noticed that a flag wasn't hanging on a flag pole at a middle school on a snowy day. He went into the school to see why the flag wasn't displayed.  Apparently it was because the children had no boots to go into the snow to hang it. That gentleman went back to work, collected money from employees and proceeded to purchase 6 pairs of shoes for the children that needed them. Today, that gentlemen's daughter and the pioneers bought 425 pairs of shoes for adults and children who were in need. Sparc is so grateful that  these wonderful individuals continue this remarkable event every year.
If anyone would like to help, donations can be made to Heartland Credit Union /Pioneer Shoe Program.
